BILLING RATES
(last revision: 10/1/2007)

The following billing rates are for direct relationships between RKT Technologies, Inc. and
clients. Discounts from the following billing rates are available for agencies, "job shops",
and technical service firms (TSFs).

Agency discounts are determined on a case-by-case basis;
please contact us by phone or e-mail with the details of your requirements.

Local Work - (No Overnight Travel Involved)

The normal billing rate of RKT Technologies, Inc., where no overnight travel is involved, is $120 per hour. Some discounts can be arranged and negotiated, determined on a case-by-case basis. Factors which may qualify for discounts include but are not limited to:

  • Type of Work - Sometimes, contracts which provide a substantial opportunity to learn something new can be performed at a lower rate, whereby the opportunity to gain new experience and enhance marketable skills can be considered part of compensation.
  • Volume of Work - If a project is expected to take weeks or months to complete, and especially if it is expected to take more than half time (more than 20 hours per week for several months), the following discount table takes effect:
    • Up to and including 50 hours in any calendar month: $120 per hour.
    • From 50 hours up to and including 150 hours in any calendar month: $100 per hour.
    • Any hours in excess of 150 hours in any calendar month: $80 per hour.

To the extent practical, work is performed at the facilities of RKT Technologies, Inc. in Londonderry, NH. We certainly understand that there will often be a need to spend significant time at the facilities of our client, and whenever a legitimtate need exists we are happy to do that. "Legitimate needs" may include, but are not limited to, the need to interact with others on the project, and the need to access target system equipement for integration and testing. In fact, we are generally willing to consider as a "legitimate need" almost anything except management's feeling that "I can't manage you if I can't see you".

Travel time between the offices of RKT and our client's facility is considered billable time, thus there is no difference in billing rate between on-site work and work performed in our facility.

Overnight Travel - Short Term

Where short-term overnight travel is involved (usually, anything up to a week or two), the base billing rate is $2000 per day including all travel time. All expenses are included in this daily rate (i.e. we pay travel, lodging, meals, and other expenses and do not bill these back to our client).  This daily rate is applied regardless of the number of hours worked in the workday, and clients are encouraged to take advantage of this policy by scheduling additional work time before or after normal working hours.

Overnight Travel - Longer Term

For projects that involve more extended time periods away from the southern NH area (time periods measured in weeks or months), the following alternate rate schedule may apply at the client's option:

  • Hourly rate:  $120.00 per hour worked.  A minimum of 8 hours will be billed for each day worked, unless a lesser number of hours was worked in a day through no fault or action of our client, in which case the actual number of hours worked will be billed.  For example, if our client terminates the workday early or does not permit work to begin until later than the normal starting time, the day will be billed at 8 hours; however, if we are late arriving at the work site or must leave early for reasons not caused by our client, the actual number of hours worked will be billed.
  • Per Diem (in addition to Hourly Rate):  $150 per day.  This is a flat daily rate which is intended primarily to help cover expenses (such as meals and lodging) in most areas of the United States, as well as periodic travel between those areas of the US and our base in New Hampshire. For those areas of the US where travel and/or living expenses are higher than normal, the Per Diem rate may be adjusted upward.

Our normal work week runs from Monday through Sunday, and invoices are calculated and submitted to our clients once per week, usually on Sunday.   For longer-term projects, we will at our client's request calculate the total weekly amount due based on the Short Term and Long Term fee schedules above, and will bill our client for the lesser of the two amounts calculated for any given week. Note that the entire calendar week must be billed using one of the two schedules above; we cannot bill some days during the week using the Short Term schedule and other days during the same week using the Long Term schedule.

As a general rule, clients are strongly encouraged to avail themselves of the opportunity to amortize the per-diem expenses, in addition to getting their projects done more quickly, by scheduling work hours in excess of 8 hours per day. The normal work week is usually 60 hours around here, and anything up to 80 hours per week can be done on an effective and ongoing basis.

All travel and lodging is arranged by, and conducted under the procedures and policies of, RKT Technologies, Inc.  No travel or expense reports are submitted to our clients.
